It should be ok, depending on what else you're going to be using.

turns out im going to only use one of my drives, i really dont need two. I kept the other one as a back up.

It depends what else it is running, such as an older P4 or a newer Core 2 Duo with a newer card, but optical drives dont use up much power.

I doubt, no matter what you're running, that another CD drive would be enough to push it over it's limit... and if it is, you should be looking at a new PSU then anyway.

I was thinking about doing this too, I have a 400watt PSU. Does anyone reccomend getting a CD/RW over a DVD/RW to play CD's?

For the price, I would get a DVD+/-RW. It will burn and play both. Why limit yourself?

Two drives should be fine unless you'll be burning both at the same time.

These days most CD/RW are out of date most software is formated on DVD now so I would definitely get a DVD burner.
