I have a phillips DVD8631 and all of a sudden it asks me please insert a disk into drive d: when I already have. It seems to work with some audio cds though. I installed the latest driver http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=116291
but that hasn't changed anything
if you have tried reading the disk from another dvd drive and it reads, then your drive lens is probably dirty or something, try those lens cleaner if see if that works.
if it doesn't,then there's not much you can do but to get a new one.
cheers bro

Yep... sometimes drives just die and there isn't much you can do about it.
