DVD-rom installing problems!!

recently i bought new labelflash dvd-rom, and i installed it into my computer. i think everything is connected good(maybie i changed cables- there's a possibility i put an older cable from cd-rom to the new dvd-rom). So the problem is that it doesn't work. when i go to "my computer" it shows that dvd-rom IS installed. Still when i put cd or dvd into the rom the green lamp light's for 5 sec, and that's it. no reading of the cd or dvd disks. what could it be?

welll ur getting power cause it lights up so its not a power issue try the other wires make sure their all the way in there.w

ok, but still i need to know do i need a program for the new hardware (new dvd-rom labelflash), and whrer to get it

Check the jumpers on the drives. They need to be either both set to CS or one set to master and one set to slave. Also make sure you have an 80 pin conductor cable and not one of the old 40 pin conductor cables.
