Copying DVD's

When I copy DVD's I copy the information to the hard drive, then put the blank disc in, then burn the info to the blank disc. That usually takes me around 40-45 mins.

How much of an increase of speed would I see if I bought anotehr DVD burner and burnt it directly from the DVD to the blank?

Basically, your time would be cut in half. That is called "on the fly" copying

Very nice.

Any good DVD burners that you could suggest for under 40-50 dollars?

I just bought a very good one (with lightscribe, if it matters) for $40

Here is a very good one, on sale, and with free shipping

You wouldnt need to buy another DVD recorder, you only need another dvd reader (dvd-rom). I use the rom to put the source in and the burner to burn it to a blank.

Correct, and you can get a good dvd-rom drive for $20.

Yes, much easier -- and cheaper -- to just buy a rom drive, then you can direct copy from the rom to the writer, and save loads of time - i do this all the time and it works excellent. Here is a fine example of what you could get...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827101666 -- less than $20 including shipping.

personally i prefer backing everything up on my hard drive... that way i dont need to rip it again if i want to create another copy. of course these are all home movies right lol

But you could also be burning 2 DVDs at once from one original copy...

I just bought this DVD Burner too... I was amazed at the price for all that you get. And it has LightScribe, how cool is that!?
