Which DVD is best? +r , -r ?

Hi,

I have an NEC ND-3550A.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827152058

I was wondering if someone has this same drive and which blank dvd is working better, or in general what type of blank dvd is working for all of you out there....referring to only +/-

Thanks in advance,

Oh yeah, and what brand dvd +/- is working well besides for just +/-

Are there multiple brands that are great?

Are there any brands to stay away from?

Thanks!

My burner's different from yours but it burns both dvd + & - . I've had more luck generally with DVD-Rs than +ses. And I think - has a greater chance of compatibility with other drives/players than +. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

Brand is a major consideration too. Try multiple brands and see which works best with your burner. From my experience, not all brands work the same.

Brands to stay away from? I've had dud Iomega discs so I'm not recommending them.

The +R is the newer standard but either one should be fine.

The +R are just not all around compatible with most appliances, burners, players, etc. The -R is more of an all around.

It just depends on what you are using to play it. If your burner can burn both, it doesn't really matter.

That was true in the early years but is no longer true. Unless you are trying to play back in a DVD player that is 4 years old or more, then you should be fine with either +R or -R. It all had to do with auto "bookmarking". Even some of the older players have no problems with either type disc. I mix and match all the time, and have no compatability problems with my players.
