umm, mr. cd-r drive; are you awake

there are many times when i insert a black cd-r into the cd-r drive and it tells me that no disk is inserted. however, in rare 1/5 cases, it is able to read that there is a blank cd in the drive.

whose problem is it; the drive or the blank cds

the cd-r brand is tdk

try a different brand and see if there's a difference, if not, the drive

Also make sure that you have updated drivers/firmware for the drive before you give it up for Sleeping Beauty's cousin...

And try a DVD-CD disk cleaner, could have a dirty laser
