not reading DVD drive


MY bios shows and reads i have the dvd drive, and also on startup it reads it but its not in windows, not in my computer or on device manager i cant understand why not, any1 know why?

you have the jumpers set right-master-slave

yep jumper is in right position, was on 3rd one in but now put it on master still nothing

I will assume that you have xp AND that you have the dvd on your secondary ide ? You may want to DL tweak ui , a free tool. If you have xp make sure you get the tweak ui for xp. Drives can be hidden and tweak ui will show you hidden drives. I seariously think that is not the case, i think it is something else, you should check first to make sure. You may also want to try safe mode and see if the drive appears.

look around, u can get a new one for about 20$

I don't know... I had a similar problem, but it was the jumpers...



My HDD is master and my cd and DVD drives are both set to cable selection (CSEL)... worked for me... Don't know why i don't have them as slaves, but oh well..
