strange behaviour

hi,

I did a Norton anti virus scan, and a spybot, and a adaware scan a few nights ago, and they all turned up clean. Since then, I've been having strange problems with my computer.

First, a game that I had on my system for a few months, and had completed, now reset itself, so I have to beat it all over again. My sound card drives had a problem, and needed to be re-installed, and outlook express said it was not my default mail client and asked if I wanted to make in my default client. Now I'm also getting spam e-mail, which is actually very strange for me, since I've had an e-mail for 5 years and NEVER gotten one piece of spam.

I haven't visited any different sites recently, nothing more that a few forums and youtube. Can anyone tell me what might have happened?

No, not that i'm aware of. The only forums I go on are here, anim8or.com, and stopmotionanimation.com and cprogramming.com. The latter I haven't been on in a few months.

I was mainly wondering if my spyware scan removed something that deleted some of my system preferences.

P.S. everything seems to have stopped, i'm just wondering if someone knew what they were so it doesn't happen again

Download Avast and scan, SPAM... if you have an Yahoo based email that was included in your DSL order log onto it and take a look in the bulk folder I get over 300 + SPAM a day, all blocked by Yahoo. Never signed up for anything either.

sometimes Norton and spybot will not catch everything either.... have you installed any new software as of late, or downloaded any new programs??

I don't have a yahoo e-mail, it's my cable provider ct.metrocast.net.

@a1eyedbandit: No new software. No unusual downloads. The only place I download from is detonationfilms.com for fx for my indie films. I've never had a problem with them in the 2+ years i've been downloading there.

I guess this is a moot point now, everything seems to be settled.
