Read buffer problems

Hi, been trying to burn cds lately after i reformatted. Using Nero 6 and a Pioneer DVR-108. Whenever im creating an image for the cd to burn, the 'used read buffer' bar is empty at 0%. once in a while it'll go up to 100% and read a bit faster but then drop back to 0%. i THINK this has made the reading part really slow.. usually taking 3x the time to burn the image. ive checked my cpu usage and PF usage in the task manager while burning.. and its usually only at 15% and PF usage is around half my installed ram. when burning the image, both read and write bars are at 100% constant and no problems there. anyone know why this happens?

are you trying to burn on-the-fly? try ripping an image to your hard drive, then burning the cd.
