are extrnal's slower?

Would a external CD burner (52x32x52x) working on USB2.0 go any slower then a internal would?

Two reason's there is a good deal on a cheap one,and i just got my new case and it has no place got a internal one, or a floppy drive at that.(How did I not notice?) It arraived with a Dent in it though, So I'm going to be returning it either way, just maybe if a external CD rom drive is alot slower, i'll return it for another case.

If, by external you mean natively external, then yeah they tend to either be negligibly worse than their internals. But thats only because you have to interface across USB/FW or whatever For the most part, they are effectively the same
