Can dvd readers write?

I have a combo cd/dvd drive that lets you write CD's and watch DVD's. anyway to burn dvds onto a cd/dvdr? if not can someone please tell me where to get the cheapest dvd writer you can find. all I want it to do is for me to be able to put in a dvd and it to make a copy of it AND be able to burn avi's to a dvdr. Any help? Thanks

Hi, it actually depends on the models. some can some cant, if ur unsure, i suggest a google search for ur specific make and model #, im sure ull find a shopping site with some specs. Next time try statin ur writer, save ya some time for those that reply, easily could have told ya. . As for where to find 1, i like Pricewatch.com, pretty fair, u can also try this link http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=...ff&oi=froogler many prices and u can choose what ur lookin to spend as a filter view. i'm a CREATIVE guy myself. good luck

He says that its a combo drive, meaning that its a CD Burner and a DVD ROM drive, otherwise it would just be a DVD Burner

So no, you can only burn DVD's in a DVD Burner, not a combo drive. Try www.newegg.com, they have some nice ones for $40.
