Cd Rom drive

Hi i need to purchase a new CD rom for my computer as i think my current one is dying. Can i just go into a shop and buy one? Do i need to find out if it will be compatible for my computer?

If your running a pc, rather then a mac, then just go and buy one.Theres no need to check for compatability. They shouldnt be much money at all

they all run off ATA cables and molex power as far as I know, but as a side note, cd burners, dvd/cd-rw's, and even dvd burners are all pretty cheap so you might wanna upgrade from just a cd-rom drive
