Burning DVDs

I bought a dvd burner about 2 months ago.

It was all fine at first until recently, there have been a lot of problems when I'm burning DVDs.

May I know how to maintain the quality of the DVDs I've burned? And how is it to burn a DVD properly as everytime I copy an entire DVD, there's always a reading error.

I'm using a DVDR+ DVDR- DVDRW dvd/cd burner on nero express 6 or something like tt.

Appreciated. Thanks

do you copy from dvd to dvd or do you rip it into your had drive first then copy into the dvd discs?

this is an idea u could try. use DVD Shrink rip it (back up) to your hard drive then burn it. with dvd shrink there more options you could use. Average retail blank dvd holds 4.7GB of data so if you trying to burn a film dvd or anything like that which has the capacity about MORE than 4.7GB, to dvd (dvd to dvd copy) its must compress to 4.7GB so there u "might" get errors.

Thanks dude for answering.

Well, I did a dvd to dvd copy. First create an image into my hard disk then using that image copy it onto a blank disk?

Qn1:

Might all those problems got to do with the hardware? Cos all the time I've been doing the same thing and problem kept appearing.

Qn2:

Can anyone advise me as in what are the requirements for suscessful burning? Eg: Minimun hard drive space? etc.

Qn 3:

Whenever I burn a dvd data disk to backup my media files. The quality of the videos, especially the sound is not very good. What might be the problem arising from that?

Sorry for all the questions post

what program do you use to creat this image?

this is what i do when backing a dvd film (or anything). I use DVD Shrink to compress the file into 4.7GB (cut unnecessary extras and highly compress menu extras during the process - this is an option). then use Nero to burn into a dvd disc. very simple and no problem.

i highly doubt this but just post your computer specification just in case.

just have more than 4.7GB free space to back up your movie/data before burning it.

Use Nero DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO) to back up your data.

com specs:

1.8 Ghz, 512 DDR ram, currently have 6 Gig of free hard disk.

I'm using Nero 6 OEM. burning dvd rom: NEC

I've used DVD shrink. Managed to copy the image. Tried using it to burn the dvd. But still somehow can't burn it. There's always a error prob.

hmmm strange. what are the blank dvd discs you use to burn and is it DVD-R or DVD+R blank discs. I also have a NEC and i found that verbatim dvd-r (8x/16x) to be very good on dvd burning.

I did a check on the dvd I want to burn. It is DVD+R format but my empty dvds are in DVD-R. Is that the problem why I can't burn?
