US DVDs on UK DVD Drive?

Sorry folks for the noob question, but I'm not sure about this...

I fancy getting the new 'F.E.A.R. Director's Edition' game, but from what I can gather it's only available in America.

Would I be able to play it on my UK DVD drive? I know movies are regionally encoded but I don't know if the same applies to computer games.

I don't want to buy it only to find out it doesn't work.

Thanks,

Jakers.

I don't think that this is correct because a friend of mine purchased FEAR about 2 days ago in Australia.
I think that games do have some sort of regional preferences but as far as i know, settings on your pc can be changed so that you can play the game. Although you should look out for the game wherever you are living.

correct me if im wrong, but i think any dvd would play in any dvd drive on a computer, and dvd regions only matter if your playing them in a standard dvd player.

Most dvd drives, AFAIK, have dvd region locks on them. But a firmware upgrade will unlock this. Although i dont think it matters for games anyway.
