dvd-rom and re writers

can i have an dvd-rom and an dvd-rewriter but bother differant brand or will there be confliction? And also are LG any good for reading the disks?

I think the brand dosent matter as long as the standard is compatiable, also I belive LG make competitively priced drives but not high end stuff. maybe someone could be more clear but someone here maybe could be more specific.

there will be no conflicts i know of. for suggestions on what to get, read through CD/DVD 101

As elmar said, there wont be any conflicts, even if one is a SATA and one is an IDE. I've only tried 1 LG product (which was an air conditioner and it didnt work well), i would go with a Sony, Lite-On, or Samsung. And try to stay away from Memorex, i have also had ban experiences with them.

there should be no problem as long as the connections are right and settings are set.. i bought a couple BENQ, LITE-ON, PLEXTOR, .. never had problems.. except maybe a slight problem w/ the plextor.. but got it resolved.. but SONY would be a good recommendation..
