Installing DVD burner

I purchased a Sony DRU-720 dvd burner and have a Sony Vaio cpu. If I remove my current cd drive can I just plug in the new dvd burner and go, or is there some changes I need to make with the connection?

well it depends on the one u are pulling out. is the one ur pulling out set to master or slave or cable select? make sure the drive ur putting in is set the same (this all refers to the jumper at the back of the rom drive) otherwise just plug it in and if ur running xp it should start and install no prob.

Installed the burner and everything worked just fine. Basically plug and play.
