dvd detected as cd rom or non empty disc

i know it is not the media. now it doesnt read that dvd+r i tried blank or filled same thing. causes the hdd led to be light constant.

i tried on a a external enclosure on a different pc, same problem, burner detected as a cd rom but the name is a dvd rw the subtitle is a cd rom

led is constant when i have a dvd inside it. sometimes a move dvd works most of the time it doesnt detect the disc, cd works okay. laser may be failing, may need to replace with a newer drive, will upgrade or downgrade firmware before making decision. anyone have similar problem?

yeah, probably the drive is just broken, i can't think of any other explainations.

did you sintall all the newest drivers?

i fixed it buy flashing to another firmware.
