DVD Burner and ASPI

How do you know if you need ASPI drivers or not.

I have been told that some cd recorders do and some don't.

I am running Winsows XP.

Most people running Win XP usually don't need to install aspi drivers so your Rom should run just fine as it it. Most burning software such as Nero comes with its own aspi layer but on occasion there are some CD/DVD ripping applications that won't settle for the home spun XP versions in which case you'll have to install an aspi layer. An example is the CD ripping application Audiograbber it requires an aspi layer to work.

FYI XP's included ASPI layer is roxio and of course any new one you get will be different. So you know you don't have to go and get the roxio aspi driver
