When i put a cd or game or anything into my Cd drive nothing happens, and when i click the shortcut to the D drive it says "cannot be found" I don't know how this happened or what I can do to fix it??
I have windows xp on an americomp computer.

yes it is spinning, and i havent recently added new hardware so i dont know what caused this.

Check in the device manager just to make sure there's not a driver conflict. It could also just be a dead drive. If you're feelin' real confident in your abilities you could open up the drive and make sure the lens is clean, and that the rails that the laser unit rides on are clean (I don't recommend it if you don't know what you're doing, I killed several drives before I actually became semi-competent with emergency peripheral-drive surgery). I lost my first DVD-ROM drive to a dead laser/rail motor. It recognizes it, it's just that it doesn't read anything (which is why I'm thinking that that might be your problem).
