I have a Sony DWQ28AB2 16x16 DVD盧W Dual layer drive and it works well.

I use the Lite-on SOHW 1633S and it will run you about $40 on Newegg. It supports DL discs and with a firmware upgrade will burn +/- at 16X

Here, this one is on the higher end of their optical drives and is only $50, Lite-on makes Sony Drives, so they make good stuff

I would suggest the following NEC models:

NEC ND-3520

NEC ND-3540*

*(newer version of the 3520 - supports faster speeds + more)

Both of these are excellent burners from a good manufacturer.
