cd drive help!

hi, i have noticed that my cd drive has discontinued to work. I have a dell 2400, about a year old. The cd drive will open, but will not read any disk placed into it. Is this something wrong with the actual "cd drive device". Or can a virus cause this or something i did. Thanks for the help.

That you a bad lens. If it's a cheap burner, which it sounds like you have a lower end Dell, it may break within a year. You may have to replace it, but try cleaning it first
