Cd Drive Wont Work Nemore

My cd drive used to work but now it wont because I installed the wrong driver. The thing is that im looking for my original driver for my cd drive however I cant find it. When i built this computer, i didnt need to install a driver for it and it worked fine. My computer can detect it however it wont work. My cd drive is CD-Writer 8200 Plus INTERNAL (I downloaded driver for external and screwed myself over) What should i do to make my cd drive work again

You should be able to fix it by going into the device manager (control panel -> system -> hardware -> device manager). Right-click on the drive in question and select uninstall device. That should remove the driver and install a fresh one over upon reboot.

Try installing the internal driver over the external. Perhaps that will work.

Did install a driver? (which won't matter, just uninstall like jancz3rt said) ...

or Did you flash the drive? Flashed with the wrong firmware?

I dont kno what flash or firmware means but I installed something that was supposed to work for an external drive not an internal and now my cd drive wont work. I took out my cd drive and put in my dvd drive for another computer and that wont work either. Wats the problem?!?!?!

Flash (firmware flash) is when you upgrade a drive to a newer version of something comparable to a BIOS. This usually adds media support, improves some features of drives and so on. It seems to me from what I gather that (as flip suggested), you flashed the drive with the wrong firmware. Could you post the make of the drive?

You can order the drivers cd here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...product&os=228

Nope. You could try flashing with a different firmware (ie. the right one) ... that might get it to work.
