Please help

my computer cannot detect any cd at all, the computer can't autorun the programs it should autorun, and when i open my computer it doesn't shows up anything, the icon is no cd, but when i double click the icon, there is things in it! and when i restart the computer the icon shows the cd's name. why does these happen? it is the same for my virtial cd rom is well. Please Help Me if you know what happened and how can i cure it.

are you saying that your cd drive reads the cds fine, but it just wont autoplay. If so you can turn autoplay back on easy, goto regedit

navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer

change the value of NoDriveTypeAutoRun to = 95

reboot

cds and dvd should autorun now

Perhaps an update to the firmware and drivers of the cdrom drive? what are your computer specs?

Yes, I would agree with randruff, you should probably update the drivers, either a plane update, or delete the current driver, than re-install a newer one

if i reboot my computer or disable then enable the cd-rom, the cd-rom show up the name of the cd but it don't show up the icon of the cd, and the cd and the cd-rom used to be all right.
