Sony DVD Burner

I'm currently looking for a new DVD burner. I like all the products that Sony offers and I was just wondering which one to buy? Does anyone have this one? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-251&depa=1

Also, it needs to be black and internal

Thank you

I hear the sony drives are just relabled LiteOn drives. I don't like that brand, but others do... *shrugs*

I have an NEC 3520 which has been great, and they tend to go for the same price, or very similar... As for black, I have seen some, but most of the NECs are white :-/

My first choice would be a Plextor 716. Second would be the NEC 3520

They come in black white and silver (and you can always mod it if needed)

Indeed. I would also go for the NEC 3520 because talking from personal experience, I had no coasters yet. All peaceful. They are cheap as well. If I were you I would google the two drives and read some proper reviews to see what it's capable of. I know that the NEC 3520 had great reviews in terms of burning quality and reading capabilities.

Agreed... I don't know major specs for the 3520, but it's been great for me. However, I wish I could of found a silver one :-/ My external case is more silver than I expected and I'm stuck with a white one. ANyone want to swap faceplates? ;3

You can always mod the faceplate. It's suprisingly easy. Just get yourself a spraypaint or an airbrush and choose the silver you want.

THe NEC3520A uses the NEC D6364 chipset (as does the Pioneer 109)
