Cyclic Redundancy Error

Has anyone had this problem b4, and if so, how do you fix it?

Just lately when I copy my dvd's using dvd shrink, it has been stopping half way through saying cyclic redundancy error. I have never had this problem b4 and I have been backing up my movies for a few years now.

I have 1 gig of Kingmax 3200 ram, 240 gig of serial ata striped hard drive in 64 block. Athlon xp 3200+, a pioneer dvd burner. I have just recently swapped from a nvidea fx5700 to an asus x800 platinum card. I don't know if that will have anything to do with it or not...

If anybody has got some ideas would be mucho appreciate

It means that either the CD/DVD or the drive is damaged and that it can't read the disk

It must be the dvd drive then. I back up all my movies etc b4 I play them so that I avoid damaging the disk.

Thanks for the help bobo.

Oh well I needed a new dvd burner anyway... Now I just need to decide on getting a dual layer or waiting for the new blue laser burner.

I would get the burner now, and then get a blu-ray one when it comes out. DVD burners aren't that expensive, $60 easily.

Good advice. It will take a while for the blue ray to become affordable. I guess it will take a new dvd player to play the new format anyway.

You try cleaning the disc? If the discs are new it could be a bad pressed dvd from the factory (know to happen). Do other new dvd's work?

Also could be part of the new copy protection schemes. The are putting dummie files in dvds now.

What movie is it? You try ripping w/ DVD Decrypter first?

I would get a CRC error when trying to rip Ray w/ DVD Shrink. Newest DVD Decrypter ripped right through it.
