DVD playback sound

I recently purchased a video card powerful enough to play back DVD's on my pc. The only problem when I play them back I have no sound. Is this because I need to hook up the audio cable from my dvd player to the sound card. I wouldn't think so because you don't need it to play back a cd but i could be wrong.

DVD playback is mostly a CPU task rather than a GPU one. What is your system? As for the audio cable, you dont need it, audio data is xfered via the IDE cable.

Praetor, that's what I thought to about the audio because CD's play back fine. BTW, It's a AMD Athlon 64 2800+ sitting on a MSI K8N neo series

512 MG DDR 3200 memory
