dvd drive not found....only sometimes??


sometimes when i keep my computer on over night...my dvd drive "dissappears" from "my computer" and it's not found in device manager <---me

Do you have PNP OS enabled in BIOS? Try toggling that option

That was from his sig. And it says for "first build" we don't know if this is the same computer or not. Reason I ask is because sometimes Win98/2000 will only find the drive as a CD-ROM not a DVD.

yes it came back after a restart



PNP OS in BIOS? hmm...what's that? haha...i'll have to go mess around bios more



xp pro...i'll have to check what it's installed as in device manager when i get back to school



i also had it as a slave but now i have it as master it's fine...but will the same thing happen when i move it back to slave cause i have a cd-rw coming in and i want that as the master

PNP OS is Plug and Play Operating System. It should be fine to have it as the slave. Make sure your IDE cable is fully plugged in.

True but in the context of how i stated it, i referred to the specific entry in the BIOS ... its there. .. have a look
