Memory Speed of GPU

What can affect your GPU memory speed?? because mine is suppose to be 500 but my pc says it 199

GPU memory is based on DDR (double data rate) tech, you have to double the stated speed to arrive at the correct effective speed. Graphics cards will also have have different clock speeds, per manufacture.

199mhz * 2 = around 400mhz. What are you using to gauge the memory speed?

Nvidia Monitor... it list it at 199, so i OC'd the card to get around 576mhz and the mhz rose from 199 to 23something..

Although DDR means you need to double the speed to get the rated memory speed, most cards also have a 3D Low Performance setting, so the speed you see now most likely is the 3D Low speeds, which are set lower then the High Performance settings to reduce heat and save power.
