The heatsink can be bought on its own for 25 USD, except the retail version comes with a 3-pin connector (more control over the fan speed (speculation) and and it can be used on other cards in the future. It also comes with VRAM heatsinks. I wouldn't make any decisions based on the stock cooler.

But it is a very nice stock cooler.

Have you used staticice.com.au? Its very helpful

I found a 256 MB 8800 GT for 288 here

And a 512 MB one for 350 here.

May not be the best brand but it should get the job done. But you're right a 512 8800 GT with a nice brand would set you back around 400, 380 dollars.

not bad but for after searching around i actually found an 8800gt 512MB for $250 sadly it is sold out now. Thankfully I grabbed it a couple days ago.
