Which is the best video card?


I own an ati they run warmer than a nvidia that seems to me so now im saving up for the 9 series once it is release

Now, if you want to know what the best of the best is, it is 3 x 8800 Ultra's on tri way SLI.

The 3850/3870 are 55nm, the 3870 has a better cooler than the 8800GT.

Yep, PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible with 1.1. How old is your motherboard? Just to make sure it isn't PCI-E 1.0 or PCI-E 1.0a.

It's backwards compatible with 1.0 and 1.0(a) too, I believe. Just possibly not all. The wikipedia states otherwise, but the person who altered it could very well be wrong, as everywhere else states otherwise, including the special interest group behind PCI.. it's a Confusing mess.

For $159 you can get a Radeon HD2900PRO which I think is best bang for your buck.

Yeah, I got one for test drive unlimited. Very nice card, I am impressed.

Its the best card you can get for sub $160

Yes it would, but it would downclock to x16 speed, which there isn't any performance loss, cause the cards can't even take advantage of its full bandwidth.
