What do the PRO and GT on card mean?

hello im in need of a new card and i have looked at these two

ATI X1950GT (sapphire make)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102093

or

ATI X1950PRO (HIS Hightech make)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161071

i have done more research on the sapphire but idk which would be better

the only difference i see is that the HIS is a 512MB card were as the other is 256 and the pro runs a bit faster

but are they the same thing?... what i mean is are they the same card the pro is faster or is one like a better made chip or something like that? you guys understand?

PRO = more memory and faster speed but is the chip a lower quality or something?

k i guess my question is when ATI designates a card which is higher on the scale PRO or GT?

The Pro is better. If I remember right, the GT is simply a crippled version of the pro, to compensate the lower price tag.

i am currently running

ASUS P4S800D-X
P4 3.0E
2 GB Corsair XMS
650 Watt PSU
250 GB IDE HDD
500 GB SATA HDD
ATI 9600XT

i assume that the difference in upgrading from the 9600 would be like night and day right? i want to be able to play games like DiRT and assassins creed. i actually bought DiRT installed it and... no shader V3 no playing 4 u so i want something that will at least give me a little more time 1-2.5 years on my current setup b4 going PCIe

That P4 will most certainly bottleneck the GPU, nonetheless it is a vast upgrade over the 9600xt. Dirt and AC will function fine, I think, just not as well as they'd have if no bottleneck at all were present.

You can get a 7900gs instead. It's comparable to the above cards, and consumes less power as well.

I checked a couple sites, didn't have any luck on an AGP 1950. The above might be your only, best choice. :/
