8800gt Which one??

Hey. I'm upgrading my rig for gaming (COD4 woot) and I'm planning on buying the Geforce 8800gt. So I went to tigerdirect.com and typed in 8800gt and their are alot of different 8800gt cards. If someone can explain the differences to me and help me narrow one down I would be grateful. Thanks

There's two basica types of 8800gt's, the 256mb and the 512mb one. There really isn't a performance difference between them unless you use high resolutions. As for the different brands, some of them are preoverclocked, but those aren't really worth it unless it's about the same price. Also, check on newegg.com, they have a nice selection too.

Thanks for the quick response. Wondering if you have had any expirience with this card or if I should find another one.

(tigerdirect.com) EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked Video Card - FREE Enemy Territory: Quake Wars PC Game, 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card

EVGA is a good brand, nice incentives, but overclocked (superclocked) versions are not usually worth it, as their more expensive and the overclocking process for a video card is extremely simple. The free game is cool, but It's a manufacture specific deal, in other words it doesn't rely on Tigerdirect.

I don't like tigerdirect as a vendor, shipping can be outrageous at times. Newegg I like. Water sucks, gatorade is better. (IMO )

Get EVGA they are very good lifetime warranties and a well known brand. Don't go for the pre overclocked versions they are more expensive and you can overclock yourself. If you are running on high resolutions get the 512 MB version.

well... only if you say "its been overclocked" they wont take it back. But if you keep your mouth shut they have no way of knowing

But to your answer, if its been overclocked, and they know, then its not covered
