Gtx 8800 Xp vs Vista

Just a quick query I currently have Xp with the above card and Im wondering would I get a better performance from my system if i was using vista as the op system instead.

And if so is it really noticeable and worthwhile in upgrading?

Thanks

You would infact get a decrease in performance besides I see no point for you to upgrade unless you wanna play halo 2 vista

Vista with the new security and other features expects to see more ram on a system since the new version is geared for boards that are able to run more memory. That's the fall back where OSs aren't keeping up with the much faster progression of hardwares. At first everyone was thinking ill and expecting game performance on the RC1 and RC2 beta releases and didn't get what they wanted there being beta.

The new games that will now come out written for XP/Vista over ME/2000/XP will be the ones that actually see any real performance. The current games out are too XP orientated. Yet older games like Return to CastleWolfenstein and Soldier of Fortune I+II seem to run will less problems on Vista for some reason. Figure that one out? They are less graphics intensive and use less memory on both system and video cards.

Either Vista or the next version some call Vienna should be able to support better graphics since better cards will still be coming out over time. Newer games will eventually provide more visual lifelike detail over the older ones as time goes on anyways. You can readily see that by comparing a game like Half Life 2 to an older 9X-ME game. You initially wouldn't see that large a gap however.
