When I switch on my second monitor which I don't always use, I notice the degaussing that it does, affects the image on the adjacent monitor and vice versa if I switch on my primary monitor whilst the secondary monitor is already on. I'm concerned that one of my monitors which is located right by the PC tower will affect the power supply and or HDs, although I've never noticed any problems before.
there is no need to worry for that.
a computer case is build to shield your hardware for those fields

Maximum PC put the Logitech Z-5500 10" sub right beside a PC and maxed the volume, nothing happened. Your safe.

in school the computer monitors in the labs are about 6 inches apart, they always do that "wave" when you turn one on, it wont harm anything.
