With graphics cards, you always get that bit on the end (e.g xt, pro, gt e.t.c) I just wanted to get it straight what all these mean, and what are the main differences.
Is there a considerable difference between the 9800 and the 9800 pro for example and is it worth the extra cash.
Thankyou
Seriously depends on what brand you are looking at.
For nVidia, adding "LE, SE, etc" at the end usually means it's a hacked DOWN version of the original card, and lacking in certaing areas (clockspeed, memory bandwidth, pipelines, etc)
But for ATi, adding "PRO, XT, XL, XT PE" at the end usuallly means it's a step UP from the original card. Pro is first, then XL, then XT, then XT PE, for most cards. Older cards wont have XL, or XT PE naming though.

K cheers, the bold writing makes it so much clearer

. What about my 9800 pro question?

Well, if the price difference is like $60 then no. If the prices are close i'd say yes. You can always overclock a 9800 to PRO speeds, but if you can afford the PRO, overclock that to XT speeds

9800 is not good, go and get nvidia 6600 GT it will outperform it by far

I'm sure it will outperform it, buti still thinkthe 9800 series is good, it can cope with half life 2 well, providing your cpu and ram are good.

but HL2 also runs well on 6600.
i have 6600 (not gt) , and i run HL2 smoothly on 1024x768 with highest setting but with no AA or AF, but even if i turned AA and AF on, the game will still be playable, and don't forget mine is not 6600GT. so i think 6600GT will outpeform 9800 on any game. and 6600GT is a very cheap card
