AGP 8X error

i have a problem, whenever i increase the AGP from 4X to 8X some applications just freeze (3DMark05, HL2, etc.), but when it's on 4X it's all fine, nothing wrong, why's that, my mainboard is updated and it supports 8X AGP acceleraton, my video card supports 8X AGP acceleration, what's causing the problem, every opinion appreciated, thx

system in my sig

well.. it doesnt matter if its set to 4x or 8x. there wont be a performance increasement, since a 9550 doesnt even use the full bandwith of 4x AGP

si id say, stick with 4x AGP

maybe you should check the VIA website and search for the chipset drivers there. that could cause the trouble.

I think you updated the driver to an unsupported version (3.5 when I think it only supports up to 3.0) could be wrong but these are the drivers that matsonic has listed for this mobo so I would try those.
