oc'ing 6600gt

I was wondering on an oc'ed 6600gt to get the core clock to 600mhz and the memory clock to 1100mhz, what kinda cooling would I need? Im assuming the stock cooling wouldn't suffice, I know that it comes with a 60mm fan.

right now im at like 1000mhz memory clock, and 540mhz core clock.

Well, Yes you will need a new HSF for your video card but there are 2 questions you have to ask yourself when picking out a HSF for a video card. 1: Do I need my other slots? 2: How cold do i want it? These two are both good.

i doubt that overclock would generate any extra heat; well not enough to warrant extra cooling. i would think that you only need extra cooling if you are gonna voltmod it

what are some good programs I can use to monitor the temperature of my video card? Also, what is the temperature norm for a 6600gt?

Well it depends on if the 6600GT has a temperature diod (s?), high end cards usually have those. When I want to know how hot my GFX card is I simply touch the heat sink.

also would the first one work with my card? It doesn't say anything about being compatible with the 6600gt.

I know that each overclock depends on the card, but what is the major limiting factor when oc'ing a video card? Is it heat or is it something else?

as far as i know, you cant measure temperature with diodes. only with temperature dependant resistors.

ow, and go to the display drivers. the temperature shoud show up there
