Well, Personally i would go with XP, But thats only because i have learnt it and all its tricks, BUT if you wish to try something, and love the New feel and "cool" Factor, then Vista is the "man"

Yes, XP is the best (in my opinion), I havn't heard alot of good thigs about vista , but if you want to try another thing like k3rupt said, vistas the way to go

I would look in to a different hard drive. Not only is it on the expensive side but also when you read the customer reviews only about 58% give it all 5/5 Others complain about it being DOA or Not working for very long. You might be better off with this one.

If he has to buy an OS, do not buy XP, you're just putting off the inevitable. Sure you can game on XP fine now, but within a few months you will see alot of DX10 and Vista only titles, so then you need to spend another $200 on an OS.

Do it right the first time and get Vista x64!

Also, I wouldnt go with that power supply. It should be fine for your card, but for the price you can find much better power supplies with 700W+, and quad +12v rails at 18-20A each.

I agree with Omega, if your building a new computer now get Vista 64bit. You might have a (few) program incompatability problems right now, but if you dont in 6 months from now you will wish you did. Microsoft should have never released a 32bit verision of Vista and just bit there fingers

Microsoft probably figures if they put out a 32bit vista people will be dumb enough to buy it so then people have to buy vista twice.

Bill gates needs money? Over statement of the year...

Anyway I reckon you got a nice system there although you should go with Vista, by going with XP you will just be putting off the enivetable as Omega said.
