Help with X-540.

I just bought a set of Logitech X-540 speakers, 5.1 surroud. As of right now, I have the center, front speakers and sub hooked up. I can't get a sound out of the center channel and the volume has to be turned all the way up to hear sound anywhere else. Is this a problem with the speakers or is it the fact that I am using on board audio?

If I need to get a sound card, please make a suggestion for an Abit IP-35 Pro board.

Thank you.

Have you turn up the volume from your computer?

If you go to the taskbar and go to bottom right, look for the speaker icon and make sure it is turned up all the way (100%). Turn down the volume of your x-540 speaker first before that otherwise you'll wake the whole neighborhood.

Yep, that was the first thing I checked.

ok, just checking

Have you tried downloading the latest driver for your onboard sound? It is usually obtainable from the mobo manufacturer's website. In this case, Abit's website.

I'm sure you have checked this also but just in case, are the cabling all good? I mean are the cables plugged to the right channels?

Any headset connected to the speaker?
