I have a problem with my sound card as the microphone kind of half works. If you open the sound recorder and scream into the microphone you can hear it very quietly and distorted. I have a suspicion this is a hardware issue but my local computer store says it is a software issue. I have re-formatted my computer and re-installed Windows XP Corporate Edition! Still doesn't work correctly.
The reason I think that this is a hardware issue...... When I disconnect all the microphones, headphones and speakers from the sound card jacks I can still record!!!!! But not my voice of course. What I do is open the sound recorder and click the record button, then I play some music through Windows Media Player 11 and when I playback what I have recorded I can hear a distorted version of the song!
Does this mean that there is a fault in my sound card? My motherboard is a MSI Platinum P35.
