Sound through home stereo

Hello

I am running the PC sound through a home stereo by plugging into the headphone jack in front of the PC to the input in the back of a home amp. It works fine but if the PC goes to sleep a buzzing sound comes from the home speakers.

Is there any reason not to set it up this way? Would it be better to plug it into the back output jack?

thanks

Rob

Shut Off the sleep feature. If you want you can get a 1/8 to RCA (phone plugs) cable and it will allow you to plug it into an AUX jack, but I dont think it is going to make a difference

Does your sound card have optical out? I think that usually works better. Also, can't you just turn off your stereo when you're not using it?

Thanks everyone. I forgot about this tread. I realized it was just the cord being plugged into the RCA's on the amp. but unplugged at the PC. Even a short cord in this way causes a buzzing if moved into different positions.
