Line in Audio?

i have a 2.1 channel audio setup, but one of the speakers is broke with the volume at full blast. this isn't really a problem when they are hooked to my pc, i just use the software to control it.



BUT im wanting to hook my xbox 360 to my 22" monitor and the speakers for my laptop (2.1ch), but ive yet to find ANY volume control on either the xbox or the Halo3 game. SOOOO to my point finaly!! can i use the "line in" port on my computer to get sound to go from my xbox to the computer and then to the speakers? im hoping that if i can then i will be able to control the sound via the computer software.



is this possible and can someone pls give me a quick walkthrough?

it should work but let me gety this straight, you want to run sound from a gaminlg console through your computer then to your speakers?

if so the hook it up then on the volume control utility use the line in volume slider then it should work, as long i am getting you, right?

ya thats pretty much it.
its not working and i have no options to adjust that. maybe i need to reinstall the audio software...

well is there any line-in volume slider?
