No Mic

So I have a headset with mic on it. I can't get this darn thing to work. I installed sound drivers. Tried front port. Tried the back port. Tried mic only, not headphones plugged in. I'ved messed with the "Sound" settings in windows. I've reinstalled windows completely. I'm running Vista Home Basic x64 with Intel d975x mobo. Any help is appreciated.



Note: The sigmatel control panel is completely different after I windows reinstall and sound driver reinstall. It's some control panel that I can't close that looks nothing like before. Help?

Can you confirm the mic works on another computer or the jacks work on your computer?

Yes the mic works on another computer. I just tried a desktop mic and it doesn't work either. I used the same mics before on XP when I had it. Whatever reason, they don't work with vista?
