Some light snaps on my audio

I have an onboard sound (SoundMax 7.1) in my Asus M2N-E motherboard. I use the configuration 2.1.

It is making some very light snaps about each 2 seconds. If I speak on the microphone there are no snaps in the sound I listen. I have the latest driver but I retrieve to the previous one, but there is the same problem.

This snaps appear listening CDs, MP3, WMA, etc. Also, I tried to clean the plug from loudspeakers, but no success.

The first time I installed this driver there was no problem.

Who can help me on this matter?

HELP_ME

Hi everybody,

This problem occurs with an onboard Soundmax card. This happens with all sound players. The snaps come up when I installed the SoundMax equalizer, so I uninstalled it, but the snaps persists.
Now I installed a new sound card, a Sound Blaster Audigy SE and, INCREDIBLE, the snaps still persists in this new sound card!!!

Do you know if BIOS update can be a solution?

More news:

I installed Linux OS in my computer and the sound works perfectly, so the problem is in the Windows software or drivers for Windows.

I reinstalled all the drivers in Windows but the problem still persists.

Just out of curiosity, what Linux OS did you choose?

It'd be a long shot if you could still do it, but if you had any sort of backup for windows you could restore to before you installed the EQ. it must have done something wrong and when you uninstalled it, it didn't change it. System restore maybe?

I used Linux version Kurumin 7.

So, now I solved my problem. I formatted my computer.

Before to do this, I tried all possibilities, including restoration, advanced properties on sound properties, register cleaner, antivirus, etc.

Finally, now it is ok, but I don't know what happened.

Some friends told me that SoundMax driver (the old sound card) is not good.
