Sound issues

I just recently built my first comp from the ground up. It's running all fine and dandy, but for some reason the mic is giving me problems. I don't know if it's actually the mic or the audio drivers or what? Whenever I try to test the audio I the playback echo's like no other...and that's with head phones on and the speakers off!! It's like it is getting feed back...but I just can't figure it out? I followed the instructions for the motherboard with hooking everything up. I also have found that the mic jack on the front of the case doesn't work either...the sound does...just not the mic. Any suggestions? Oh, and the build is the one in the sig.

maybe you have the front panel audio connectors wired up incorrectly. check your motherboard manual.

Hmm...check my motherboard manuel...and from what I can tell I have it right. The USB's work fine...it's only the mic and headphones jacks
