guitar effects pedal -to- Audigy 4 S/PDIF ?

Hi,

I have a guitar effects pedal with an S/PDIF RCA output, and just realised that my sound card (Audigy 4) has a digital I/O... does the "I/O" mean "input/output"?

If it does, does that then mean if i get the right cable, i can plug my effects pedal into my computer to record with a digital stereo signal instead of the mono analogue signal?

I've tried searching for info on the audigy 4 but i think their explanations assume that the user knows a fair bit about it already, so i'm kinda confused about it...

thanks for your time,

Paul

its a Digitech GNX3...

as i said before, it has an S/PDIF rca output on the rear panel, so thats gotta be some standard type of digital output.

i think i need to get the module i mentioned in my previous post, because thats got digital optical and rca connections for input and output...
