SoundMAX driver

I reformatted my hard drive. I cant find my sound card info but I know its a soundMAX. My mother board is an intel, but I couldn't find anything on their site either. Please tell me how to figure out my exact sound card and motherboard and where I can find the driver for them.

I know, I was there, the problem is that none of those are my Pcs OEM and so I click on intel as my motherboard manufacturure and it takes me to intel.com I cant find anything to do with audio at intel.com

Is this on a prebuilt system or a custom build? If it's on a prebuilt you can go to HP, Dell, Gateway, eMachines to find the system specifications. That will usually list the make and model board along with the other hardwares offered as a complete system. If it was a custom built you would have to ask the builder for that to see whichh Intel model was used.

Is there really no other way? I have a custom built but I could have sworn I've done this before another way.

Knowing the actual model either by the cd that came along with the board itself, the user's manual, or the online tool at Intel would be needed to match the correct set of updated drivers for the board there. If your board has some feature or features not common on other models you could go through the various specifications and product overview on the list of models to see how far you get there. It's important to match them correctly.

Or just open your case and look at your motherboard make and model # then use that.

The make of the board is already known. But not all boards have the model number only serial number seen on them. But fortunately Intel was already thoughfull eniough to provide instrunctions on how to identify any of their boards seen at http://support.intel.com/support/mot.../CS-010687.htm
