line-in trouble

My grandpa just got a tv tuner/video capture card. He's very satisfied with it except one thing, in order to switch from watching TV to recording video tapes, he has to disconnect the line-in cable that runs from the capture card to the onboard sound card, and plug in the line-in to TV stero cable splitter. Is there a way to combine these 2 cables into one big splitter to avoid changing cables every time? Thanks in advance.

You can't just split it, you need to switch. Your best bet would be an audio switch box (Google it) so you can connect either signal cable to the line-in. I've got an old Radio Shack unit (actually on my stereo) that would do the job - it's all RCA/phono connections.

Here's a typical just for illustration purposes.
