Also does a wireless N router also work with a laptop accessing it by a wireless G signal?

Thanks

I would go with the belkin. I use the Belkin N1 as my main router and it's awesome. For that price you can't complain either. The belkin routers have been touted as getting better range than the Linksys routers.

Yes, N routers do G traffic as well.

that and to the guy above that suggested buying a N router NO there not standardized enough to get one yet plus a wireless g or even b is faster than your internet connection anyway go with what you need. linksys is one of the better routers i have delt with the ones ive had worked perfectly until i wanted newer ones netgear are crap belkin are crap and dont even get me started on D-link.

heres the best simple and gets the job done

linksys has fairly good support too, they even helped me fix problems caused by my modem (firmware related). I thought the problem was with my router at first, that's why I called them instead of my modem manufacturer... And even their email support is great, they actually do reply within 24 hours every single time!

That was who I was probably leaning to buy but the thing is, I do have the Linksys WRT54G which was the one Slaphappylinksys recommended but the problem is when I am on my wireless network, my speed is less then 2Mbps but when I connect directly from my computer to my modem its back up to 6-7Mbps. I have the latest drivers and also my router is protected. So I was thinking that maybe a wireless N router will give me a better range and better speed. But since they are not standardized enough I don't really know what to do. Should I suffer with the speed that I am receiving now or should I get a new router for a good price?

that wireless-n technology doesn't do anything for you if you don't have a wireless n card

P.S. the wireless-n is just good for transferring files within a network...like computer to computer, thats why a house with a wireless-b router can get the same internet speed as a house with a wireless-n router

I have the Linksys WRT54G, and before that I had a Belkin 802.11g wireless router. I can say that although the Linksys has more options to configure/set, I have a lot more problems then I ever did with my Belkin.
