USB over UTP

My printer runs incredibly slow (it ran on the parallel port all its life on a print server, but now it is plugged into my computer 30 ft away by USB and i just share it)

but it takes around 3 minutes to print a full webpage (1-2 pages)

note: i can scan and print just fine if i plug in my Dell A900 all in one

any ideas?

OS- Windows XP Professional SP2

Printer- HP Deskjet 830/832c (yes very old i know)

USB 1.1 due to USB over UTP

30ft is way too long for a USB cable, how many extensions are you using? The maximum length is 5m (~16ft).

yeah, too much signal loss. Put a powered hub in between lengths and you should see a difference.

I have the same problem as I stated above, except my cable is 5FT

no, the cable is going over this USB over ethernet adapter, you can extend USB over 300 ft

i think it may be the printer

yep, it was my printer, it was an older printer but my new HP prints fine...fast as USB 1.1, since it is (and yes the cord is still 30ft, and to prove you wronger, i tested it on a 80ft cord, no problems at all)
